Although there are apparently photos from the early 1970s, the last known specimen seems to be from the Zapata Swamp (Cuba) in <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://portal.vertnet.org/o/usnm/birds?id=http-n2t-net-ark-65665-3584accab-7dec-4fa1-9d32-3ebb76fdcd3a">May 1934</a>.
